Fuel cost calculator for Australian trips

Enter your distance, your car's fuel use and the price you expect to pay. The calculator estimates how many litres you will use and what they will cost.

Enter positive values in all three fields to see an estimate.

This is a simple fuel estimate. It does not include detours, changing pump prices, load, traffic, terrain or a reserve. Plan actual fuel stops with OTW.

How much is a full tank of petrol?

Multiply your tank capacity in litres by the pump price per litre. This estimates the cost to fill an empty tank; a top-up costs less. Check your car manual for tank capacity and the pump for the current price.

Enter a positive tank size and pump price to calculate the cost.

How the estimate works

Fuel used = distance in kilometres ÷ 100 × fuel use in L/100 km. Cost = fuel used × price per litre. If your price is in cents per litre, divide it by 100 first.

Use a real-world fuel-use figure if you have one. Published vehicle figures are useful starting points, but your actual result can change with driving conditions. This estimate assumes one price for all fuel bought on the trip.

Find where to refuel

The fuel trip planner checks your car's range, current tank level, live route and reported station prices. For a quick local comparison, look up nearby fuel prices.
