Fuel trip planner: find fuel on the way

Find fuel on the way by telling OTW where you're going. Add your car and current fuel level to see which stops are in range, how much fuel the detour uses and where to refuel on a long trip.

Why plan with OTW?

Looking for fuel on your commute or a road trip? See how OTW findsfuel on the way without sending you across town.

It knows your range

Tell it your car and how full the tank is. It uses real-world consumption, not the lab figure, and holds back a reserve. Stations you cannot reach are never offered.

It prices the detour

A detour costs fuel and time. OTW subtracts the estimated fuel cost from your saving and shows the extra time separately.

It plans the whole trip

Longer than one tank? It plans every leg — where to stop, how much to buy, and what the drive costs end to end.

Questions

How does OTW find the cheapest fuel on a route?
You give it a start and a destination. It works out the driving corridor, finds stations near the road, then ranks them by estimated savings after detour fuel cost — not just pump price.
Why does it ask for my car and how much fuel I have?
Because the cheapest station is no use if you cannot reach it. OTW uses your tank size and current fuel level to estimate how far you can go, then only recommends stops inside that range.
Is a cheaper station always worth the detour?
No. A 5c/L lower price saves $2.50 on a 50 litre fill, but extra driving burns fuel. OTW subtracts the estimated fuel cost of the detour and shows its estimated time separately.
Where do the fuel prices come from?
Government fuel-price feeds across Australia, including FuelCheck NSW/ACT, FuelCheck Tasmania, Fair Fuel Victoria, Queensland fuel-price reporting, FuelWatch WA, SAFPIS in SA and MyFuel NT. Prices 24–48 hours old are marked stale and excluded from recommendations; prices older than 48 hours are hidden.
Does it cost anything?
No. OTW is free and needs no account. Your car is saved in your own browser, not on a server.
Can it plan a long trip with several fuel stops?
Yes. On a drive longer than one tank, OTW plans the whole thing leg by leg: where to stop, how much to put in at each, and what the trip costs end to end. At an expensive stop it will tell you to buy only enough to reach a cheaper one ahead.

What ULP 91 costs around the country today

Checked on 31 October 2026 against the government price feeds OTW runs on. Each row samples the fresh reports from the stations nearest that city centre — the median is what you would expect to pay without hunting, and the cheapest is what the hunting is worth.

Across the 7 capitals with reports today the median sits at $2.31 a litre. Canberra is running about 24.4c a litre above Adelaide — $14.64 on a 60 litre fill, for the same fuel in the same week.
